Margarita is the most famous tequila cocktail in the world, probably born in Mexico around 1938-1948. It is based on the perfect balance between 100% agave blanco tequila, the acidity of freshly squeezed lime and the orange sweetness of Cointreau. A timeless classic that doesn't forgive bad ingredients.
Preparation
Rub the edge of the glass with lime and then soak in salt.
Pour the tequila, Cointreau and lime juice into a shaker.
Fill with ice cubes.
Shake energetically 12-15 seconds.
Double-filter into glass on ice (or ice-free cup).
Garnish with a slice of lime.
Serve immediately.
Absolute rule: 100% agave tequila only. Mixto tequilas give mediocre Margaritas. Always use freshly squeezed lime — the difference is monumental.
