The Ti Punch, or Petit Punch, is the national cocktail of Martinique. Composed solely of agricultural rum, cane syrup and a lime wedge, it embodies the entire rumasiere culture of the West Indies. Simple, powerful and authentic, it is traditionally enjoyed without ice and everyone prepares it in their own way - as the Martinican saying goes.
Preparation
Place the lime wedge in an old fashioned glass.
Add the cane sugar syrup.
Then pour in the white agricultural rum.
Mix gently with a spoon or stick.
To be enjoyed without ice cream, at room temperature - or with ice according to preference.
In Martinique, we say: Everyone prepares their ti punch in their own way: rum, sugar, lemon... and that's it. You can lightly crush the lemon to release more juice and oils.
